What types of learning does Maddie's University offer?

We offer self-paced courses, instructor-led courses and on-demand presentations. 

What courses and presentations am I allowed to participate in? How much do they cost?

All learning on Maddie's University is free. All of the self-paced courses and presentations in the Maddie's University catalog are available to everyone. Online Instructor-Led Courses have an enrollment cap, so they require an application. 

How do I find learning on a particular topic?

Go to the Maddie's University catalog. You can type a keyword into the search field. When the search results appear, you can filter the learning by type, such as self-paced course or on-demand presentation. Or, you can simply browse the catalog and filter the catalog by topic and type of learning. 

How long will a self-paced course or on-demand presentation take me to complete?

In the course listing, the certificate component shows the number of credits offered for that course or presentation. If the number of credits is 1.0, we estimate it will take you 1 hour to complete. If the number of credits is 0.50, we estimate it will take you a half hour to complete. 

How do I view a course or presentation?

First, register for Maddie's University, then sign in. From the Maddie's University catalog, click on the course or presentation you'd like to enroll in. When the course/presentation listing opens, click the green Enroll button. Then click the yellow View Course button in the Contents tab of the course listing. NOTE: If you do not sign in before enrolling, the item will appear in your cart. Sign in, then go to your cart and complete your enrollment. 

I'm still having trouble viewing my learning. What should I do?

It could be your browser. Internet Explorer is not recommended. Try switching to Google Chrome. If you are in Google Chrome and clicking the View Course button does not launch a self-paced course, you may have pop-ups blocked. To allow pop-ups just for Maddie's University, follow the instructions on this page.

What is My Dashboard?

When you click My Dashboard, you can see all of the courses you've completed and all courses you're still working on. By default, My Dashboard shows you courses that are in progress. To see courses you've completed, select Completed from the Filter by status drop-down menu.

I completed a course. How do I access my certificate?

Maddie’s Fund is an approved provider of content which enhances professional competence and aligns with the 5 domains of the CAWA Exam specifications. All courses and presentations are all approved by the National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) for continuing education. Every hour of training equals 1 CE towards CAWA Recertification and NACA CE.  When you complete a course and/or quiz, you can access your certificate. Here is a demonstration of how to print or save your certificate.

What features are offered in the Accessibility and Translation toolbar?

To view the Accessibility and Translation toolbar, click the button on the top left of the screen. From this toolbar, you can access text-to-speech, change the font size and background color, use a ruler and screen mask to focus your attention on particular text, and translate text and audio into 134 languages, among other features. Click the information button in the Accessibility and Translation toolbar to see a guide to all the features. Note: The Accessibility and Translation toolbar does not translate self-paced courses. Maddie's University does offer a growing number of self-paced courses in Spanish. All on-demand presentations are uploaded to YouTube so learners can access closed-caption translations.
