Kitten College: Transforming Tiny Lives Through Innovation

Kitten College: Transforming Tiny Lives Through Innovation

Neonatal kittens are the most vulnerable—and most euthanized—animals in shelters nationwide. This course empowers shelters and rescues of all sizes to build sustainable, high-impact neonatal programs guided by shelter medicine and grounded in the principles of high-quality, high-volume (HQHV) kitten care.

Whether you're starting from scratch or scaling existing efforts, this course provides the tools to save more lives through innovation, collaboration and compassion. Graduates may choose to establish their own nationally-recognized Kitten College, join the National Kitten College network as a partner site or adapt the strategies to meet the unique needs of their organization and community.

The course was authored by Marnie Russ, National Kitten College Program Administrator, a recognized expert on caring for at-risk kittens. In 2023, Marnie assisted UC Davis and the University of Wisconsin in updating their neonatal kitten guidelines for mass distribution.
