My apologies for missing yesterday's class! I was on a transport and didn't make it back in time to login. I am up to date on the assignments though, and I participated in the Petfinder Supply and Demand video through a webinar that they hosted when they launched the application. It's very useful!

I'd like to ask a question of the  class participants: if your organization is already involved in transports using volunteer drivers, I'm interested as to how you compensate the volunteers of expenses.  For example, do you use gas stipends or provide a gas card?  Do you provide a per diem for expenses such as meals and lodging or do you provide a travel card to pay for these items?  Do you provide any other non-monetary items to the drivers in appreciation?

Our volunteer drivers are usually only asked to do short transports that can easily be completed in a day. If a volunteer team of two people do an overnight transport, we do equip them with a company credit card that they can use for gas and meals and a $250/person stipend. That is very rare however, as I am usually the one who does any overnight transports. We also received a transport grant to offset travel costs which has helped tremendously even though I haven't been able to arrange any long transports since October 2022.

We received a grant from the Friends of Pets Foundation. You are correct though, transport grants are few and far between. I scour the internet every day for grant opportunities and stumbled across this one and it was nonrestricted so I pitched for transport funding!

Thanks Jill for your response. It's helpful to know what other transport groups are paying for long distance trips.

Your transport grant - would you mind telling me where you obtained it?  From what I can find in my research, there aren't many grants for transport expenses available to small organizations anymore.

I am unable to view the course work through cloud.scorm.com. I have disabled pop ups, etc. and it still will not open.
